When you drank
03 / TIMINGPace distributes your drinks across the session; it cannot know the exact time each one was consumed.
Estimate margin
04 / CLEARANCEHigh uses slower clearance (0.11‰/h) for a more cautious estimate. Real rates vary.
How the calculation works
Alcohol grams = servings × volume in ml × ABV / 100 × 0.789. The Widmark-style estimate divides alcohol by weight and the distribution factor (r). Population averages are 0.68 for males and 0.55 for females; body composition varies.
Intake is spread across the session. Ramping up means the intake rate increases linearly from half to 1.5 times the average; ramping down reverses it. Each portion is assumed to absorb evenly over 60 minutes; this is a fixed model assumption, not an individual measurement. Continuous intake and absorption are integrated together. Alcohol clears once across the total level; time before absorption cannot bank clearance.
Base uses 0.15‰/hour clearance. Low adds 5% alcohol and uses 0.14‰/hour; Normal adds 10% and uses 0.12‰/hour; High adds 15% and uses 0.11‰/hour. These margins are illustrative assumptions, not validated confidence intervals or guaranteed upper bounds. Food, health, medicines and individual metabolism can substantially change the real result.
A future finish treats the drink total as the plan for the entire session. Milestones use the final downward crossing, assuming no extra drinks. BAC values round to two decimal places; positive values below 0.01‰ display as <0.01. Milestones use unrounded values. Displayed milestone clock times round up to the next five-minute mark to avoid implying precision. A current value below a reference can still rise above it; milestones show when it stays below for the remainder of the entered session. Modelled zero is when this simplified model reaches zero; actual elimination may slow at low levels.
Dates use your device’s timezone and include the day when a result is on another date. Times skipped by a daylight-saving change are rejected; repeated times when clocks move back use the earlier occurrence.
Here ‰ uses the common approximate BAC convention of g/L; 0.5‰ is 0.05% BAC. The distribution factor r is a Widmark coefficient, not a literal percentage of body water. No measurement is performed.
